It Was a Fitting Day to Enter the Camming Industry

I started camming in 2007, July 4th in fact!  LOL I guess you could call it my Independence Day as well.

I was working in a dead-end administrative assistant position for $15 putting up with way more crap than I need to for that amount.  I was completely miserable in my 9-5 job so one evening when I got home I went onto Craigslist of all things to look for alternatives to what I was doing.  I stumbled across an ad on Craigslist that piqued my interest so I checked it out.  It was a referral ad for ImLive.  You remember those days right, when ImLive used to give out referral bonuses.  So anyway, I checked it out, showed it to my husband and decided to sign up.  I was so impressed with the income potential (remember this was back when ImLive was THE PREMIER webcam site) that after 2 weeks of camming my hubby and I decided it was time for me to turn in my notice at the 9-5er and start camming full time.  I had 2 weeks paid vacation coming to me, so I used that time to get settled in camming.  Prior to taking my vacation I gave my two week’s notice (yes they still gave me the vacation pay I had earned) and I never set foot back in that miserable place again!  I’ve been camming since.

Camming is not our main household income.  It is half however.  Back when I first started I was twice my husband’s income alone.  Now however with the oversaturation of sites, my age and low tolerance for certain levels of stupid, combined with the amount of free stuff the sites are providing, my personal income has dropped about 1/3 of what it was.

It’s funny that I do this line of work because I have always been an introvert, very shy and soft spoken.  I think in a way it’s the whole anonymity thing and being able to create a persona for someone I’m not.  I’ve always been photogenic or so I’ve been told and have done some print work in my early 20’s, so I thought why not give this a try.

LolaInParadise Remembers Her First Week on Cam

I started out in the Friends and Romance side just to get my toes wet on ImLive (the first week) and remember it being very easy and fun.  I heard so many times that I would rake in the cash on the “Dark Side” so I decided to check it out and WOW were they ever right!  For some reason the transition to sex shows was easy.

Never a Dull Moment in Paradise

I’ll share the funniest show I ever did.  I believe it was in 2008 or maybe 2009 on ImLive.  I had a guy who was just funny as could be.  One day we were joking around about doing a slapstick cream pie show (not of the sexual sort).  We worked out the logistics so that he would be my last show of the day and we had a blast for over 2 hours.  I never laughed so hard during a show in all my time doing this.  Here’s how it worked.  We were cam to cam; he had a stack of pie tins that he would individually fill with whipped cream.  I would swipe my hand in front of the cam and he would hit himself in the face with a pie.  Then he would do the same thing to me.  We went through 2 dozen pies laughing our butts off the entire time.  I miss that guy!  LOL

Lola’s Pros and Cons of Webcam Modeling

Pros: I have met some really great people who have become very LOYAL FANS who have followed me from site to site and helped me start my own site.  Of course working from home has its benefits, just the money savings from not worrying about gas, lunch, clothing and all that fun stuff.

When I started I was going for the girl next door mainly because I don’t look my age.  Then as the years passed I’ve transitioned into the MILF next door who like teasing her neighbor’s husband.

It hasn’t really had any effect on my relationships with my family.  Both of my grown sons know what I do and are mature enough handle what I do quite well.  My oldest son handles any tech issues I run across as well as keeping me updated on new equipment and tech that I should implement.

As far as my friends go, they are more close minded about it and freaked out.  Very few talk to me anymore because I told them straight from the get go that if they couldn’t handle what I do then it is their problem, not mine.  I’m still the same person I was before I started camming.  They just need to get over themselves.  I basically told them when they started paying my bills they could start being judgmental of me, until then STFU.

1) If you can sign up without a studio DO IT.  Don’t let someone else take a cut of the small percentage you would normally get from the big box sites.

2) A kickass webcam, a studio lighting kit, an awesome mic and taking the time each day to look your best before you log on will work wonders for you!  Not only will you look great but you will feel it as well.
