Jonathan: Hi, this is Jonathan with O Camgirl. Today I’m joined by Consensual Kitten, a Canadian webcam model. Hey there!

Kit: Hi!

Jonathan: How long have you been working in the adult industry, and what drew you into it?

Kit: It’s actually only been a couple months. I’m very new to it. As for what drew me into it – I felt like it was almost an accident when I first started doing it. I don’t even remember how I found out about camming, but it was an impulse where both me and my friend started camming together. A month or so later, I started doing it myself.

Jonathan: Is the adult entertainment industry your main source of income? If not, what is?

Kit: Not yet! I am planning on making it my main source of income in a couple months, hopefully this summer. But no, right now I’m working a boring retail job.

Jonathan: Every job has its pros and cons. What do you love and what do you hate about webcam modeling?

Kit: Well, I definitely love the freedom. I love what I do, of course. It’s fun, it’s a lot of fun. The cons would be the fact that you can sometimes not actually earn anything. I used to think it was a myth. When I first started I was so egotistical, but no – I have worked two hour shifts where I’ve earned nothing. And of course sometimes the guys are hard to deal with, especially because I had some pedophile guy and it’s hard to deal with those kinds of confessions.

There’s one thing that’s definitely a big con that I try to play off like it isn’t one… but there’s the whole “people finding out” what you do, and not even what you do, not that “oh you’re a camgirl” – but if they find out your name, which is attached to all these pictures and videos, and you know. It’s something I’ll always say, because all cam girls say it’s not about if, it’s when. And I’m generally okay with that. I want to do this for a long time, but I eventually would also probably like to do something else. And it’s a little scary that I might not have the opportunity to do any other careers because of this.

Jonathan: How does the work you do factor into your every day life and relationships with family and friends?

Kit: Wow, that’s interesting because I’ve only been doing this for a couple months. I’m only starting to notice it now, but it’s been harder to get along with some of my more conservative friends who don’t know about it, who I know I can’t tell about it because they would never accept it. Because there’s so much stuff I can’t tell them. But the friend I started camming with, well – now we’re closer than ever. And for family, I haven’t told most people. I told my sister, but generally, she kind of ignores it and I’m assuming if I told my family they’d avoid the subject too.

Jonathan: How has being a webcam model changed you or your perspective?

Kit: Basically just how I view myself. I feel so much more in control of my life and my relationships.

Jonathan: What’s the most important piece of advice you would give to someone considering becoming a webcam model?

Kit: I always tried doing a lot of research into what other girls are doing, but it really doesn’t matter. Actually, that’s the problem. Most of the rules you read don’t matter. Like, I remember one was “full face of makeup.” No, if that doesn’t suit you… Basically, do what suits you and just go with it. People will love that.
